So what? We borrowed him, along with a fair assortment of other riders. He happened to hit it big while riding for us, but since he's not contracted to Belle Vue he owes Belle Vue no loyalty. If Perrin had been committed to Rory, he would have negotiated a deal with the rider last year so Coventry couldn't have made him an alternative offer.

Andy,
I stick to my opinion. Schlein's chosen Coventry so, like Mr Screen when he went to Bradford, I'm not bothered if he never races for BV again. I bet there are some on here who would be prepared to see Nik Klingberg in BV colours again?

More extracts from La La Land or in the case of our Toytown Train Driver..neverland.i.e. Never Schlein back again, never Klingberg, never Screen or never anyone else if they ever move away from Belle Vue temporarily.Presumably Lyons now with this retarded way of thinking.

Speedway riders move around at regular intervals, it's a way of life in this sport. Get used to it.

Schleon has absolutely nothing to prove to Belle Vue, he's done it on the track in Belle Vue colours with Belle Vue riders who gave up when they didn't gate or were passed, no bottle no determination, no desire and no loyalty to the Aces. They still took the money and plenty of it. Your venom should be directed there not at people who gave their all.

Too true, Baz. Speedway fans have notoriously short memories. Bet Rory would be welcomed with open arms if and when he returns!

I wonder if AndyM and BrianRenshaw would be as forgiving if Schlien's capabilities on a speedway bike matched those of Jan Jaros or Tobias Johansson.

For example, because he wasn't always scoring the points, many never wanted to see Neil Collins in BV colours last season, and you can't say he didn't try.

Many turned on Jason Lyons when he went through that rough patch, and you can't say he tootled that much in his BV career. I am glad to see Jason back at BV, his past record and loyalty far outways any points he may score in the future.

I think by staying loyal to Schlien, namely the likes of andym and BrianRenshaw, is a lot to do with his age and potential, and of course that there's enough time in the future for him to return to BV.

I don't like this attitude of the bigger the scorer you are, the more you're welcome at Belle Vue. Apart from Crump, I would have rebuilt last season's side completely.

Chris,

Could we still sign Schlein?

Yes it would appear so! According to the BSPA site today he has agreed personal terms with Coventry but Coventry and Edinburgh can't agree on the fee. That suggests to me that the door is still ajar.

Should we still sign Schlein? Yes! Last season he showed courage, he showed ability, he showed committment. He showed remarkable levels of those elements. In my opinion there are few riders of his age and experience that are as good.

Would we sign Schlein? Yes! Given that he becomes available and we can still fit him in. Mole and Thomas are not fools. To paraphrase the words of Mr Mole, Rory Schlein is a gem waiting to be polished. I would like Ian Thomas to be the jeweller doing the polishing.

Joy to you.

Ron.

What are you saying Moxey - that you want to employ riders you deem to be sufficiently loyal regardless of whether they are good enough to represent the Aces? If you say never again in the small and cliquey world of speedway, those words will come back to haunt you someday!

Each season we build a side based on form and compatibility within the team. If Jan Jaros or Tobias Johansson proved they could cut the mustard, I'd be only too happy to have them back. Why else would we have encouraged TJ back after two underachieving spells with us?

you have also got to look at it from Rorys point of view. This is his first full season in the elite league and therefore his only money earner and at Coventry he is virtually guarateed double figures every home meeting whereas that is not the case at BV where 6-7 points would be nearer the mark that was ok last year where he had his edinburgh money to drop back on so for his first full season elite I think he has done the correct thing and gone to a team where he is going to score the most points
