That's all well and good but after reading the article about bringing back Belle Vue there was not one single mention of the Speedway. Belle Vue Speedway was an integral part of the whole complex and should be featured in any plans to build a new one.

The article stated that they had listened to local residents. I imagine 95% of them didn't even mention the Aces.

With all the referances to the "eco" theme cant see four motorcycles roaring around meeting with certain criteria.

To me the article didn't have any reference to sport in general let alone speedway in particularly or the ACES!!. It was an article purely on re-generating the area with new houses & new business, an extention of the work done in East Manchester, which i might add is much needed & should be applauded!!

Any idea of the proposed new development being in any real way similar to the Belle Vue we all once knew is nothing more than a publicity gimmick on behalf of and in the minds of those with vested interests in it.

Having lived within easy travelling distance of the massive Hyde Road complex for most of my life I have been fortunate to spend a great deal of time - and boyhood pocket money - at The Showground of the North as it was once known.

Later in life I spent many full days there at weekends in my St John Ambulance capacity. I can truthfully say that there is practically nothing that took place at Belle Vue with which I was not involved, including a mass food poisoning outbreak!

On the basis of that experience I feel that it is extremely unlikely that we will ever see anything like the Belle Vue entertainment complex in Manchester again.

Manchester now has far too many scumbags for such a complex to ever stand a chance of being a success.

There may of been lots of fond memories for alot of you but those days have gone.

Swoosh got to agree with B.A. mate that's a bit harsh, think you may need to dust off the old Dpm's and tin helmet, (still working for my previous employer as a civvi so can get you new if needed!) 'cause you may be getting some flak coming your way! Mind you I chose to "retired" to rural East Yorkshire rather than returning to my place of birth
