As I thought the transfer of Crump to Poole has caused the Poole paranoia displayed by many contributors to this forum to grow to acute proportions.

How sad for the proud name of the Belle Vue Aces - how very sad! I well remember the years when the Aces supporters feared no team, not even the mighty Wembley Lions. Poole are Premier League compared to Wembley.

I don't fear Poole at all, I think they will be down towards the bottom of the league with us. Crump will probably get 15 point max, Pedersen will probably get about 12 or 13 points, but then you have to ask where the rest of the points are going to come from. Our reserves should walk all over theirs. Like I said, all Sky will be going on about though is Crump.

It should be a fantastic start to the year. I would agree that Poole are not one of the teams that I think will be battling for honours this year. Too early for a prediction but two good riders and 5 rubbish ones are not to be feared.
I hope Crumpy gets a decent reception but I think his return should motivate the lads and we batter them good and proper!

Does this mean that the wily Boocock will not be inviting Crump or Pedersen to the Peter Craven meeting? - we need a decent start to the year and need to take any advantage.
I'll answer my own question - whatever we do Crump wiill still score 15, but Poole will find out to their cost that 2 riders can't carry a team.

Yeah I really hope its a good turnout and a good meeting.

A good chance for the likes of Skornicki, Fisher and Laukkanen to get used to the (hopefully new and improved!) track.

As for Belle Vue vs Poole - as soon as it was announced JC was going to Poole I feared that this match would be televised and dreaded we would get hammered. Also I feel SKY would be delighted for this to be the outcome. However, I now feel a little more optimistic, hopefully our 7 men will score more than their 2 man team.

I don't think we have anything to worry about with the visit of of Poole and Jason Crump. I really do hope the fans five him the reception he deserves and that is a good one! I don't agree that sky are coming re-named as the Jason Crump show!! Maybe just maybe they are coming to see what we are made of, lets hope we put on a show that us the fans and the new promotion deserve!!

And Chris also mentioned that the fixtures are still to be fully finalised the meeting will be televised by SKY. So a nice bit of early season TV exposure for the armchair fans that might get the urge go to matches later in the season for some live action.
This match is not being shown to give us some exposure...it's been chosen on the basis that it's Crump's first match at BV since leaving us. May as well re-name it The Jason Crump Show.

I wasn't implying that the meeting was being televised to give Belle Vue exposure but that it will be some early season TV coverage for THE NEW BELLE VUE.

If the ACES are expected to take a right good shellacking then what is there to lose. Which I personally do not think will happen. The broadcast probably will come over as The Crump Show but I suppose that the current World Champion is what the average casual viewer relates to and hence the presenters naturally focus on that during the evening.

The track will not be prepared to JC's specs. I wonder if he will come out in Heat One???!!!

The Aces might be pretty well settled in as Morty mentioned that there will be a couple of practises before the season opener, which I understood to be the PC Memorial meeting.

Can't really comment of the conspiracy theory. But I thought it would be SKY's call as to which meeting it chose from that particular week's fixtures.

Ron.
You obviously misinterpreted my last post about Poole coming to Belle Vue early. It was an inference to Poole being afraid of the Aces on this occasion in wanting to take advantage of any early season weakness if any.
Anyway, why is it not ok to have a go at Poole when Brother Shovlar has had a go at us quite frequently? The Jason Crump saga is over now and he is a cross which they will now have to bear.

Poole are a nothing side. 2 GP riders alone do not win league titles. Crump and Pedersen will average around 28-30 points a match but, akin to what Rob (admin) said, where are the other points going to come from?

Even at Dimbore Road they won't be such a potent threat. At KL Crump will probably score his max and BP 11-13 points but Boyce, Darkin and the rest are not going to score well at all.

Darkin could be a dark horse and weigh in with a few points but, again, where are the points coming from? Batchelor and Doyle should be easy pickings for St Jimmy and Big Kev (as I'm gonna call him from now on) in heat 2.

I have nothing to fear from any team in the Elite League coming to Belle Vue...it's away from home where we are going to suffer.
