The figures say it all. We knowledgeable Kirky Lane pundits definitely feel it's between Crump and Pedersen.

It is, in our carefully considered collective opinion, not worth the others listed even taking part in the GPs.

I think they are two for the future but are not yet ready for the immense pressure involved.

i agree Vintage Ace,but the sport needs some good young new blood, when you look at the top half a dozen riders they are all 30 plus.can't wait to see pavlic holder and wolfinden challenging in a couple of years

Many riders have been tipped for the top in the GPs in recent times and have matured into good club men and seemed to have settled for that level. This is good as I feel we tend to regard solid team men as second class to the GP brigade.

Not so! speedway is, and I hope always will be, primarily a team sport. Give me seven effective team riders rather than a persistent GP winner any day.

Should the riders you enumerate become established in the GP circus I'd give a very muted cheer. Why? Because I would be fearful of them deserting the team sport for the short-lived glory of winning a few GPs.

Does that remind you of anything?

Now most people on here who know my speedway history would expect me favour the so-called 'one off' final. Those people would be right - I do! I feel the GP circus has virtually taken over speedway and is in real danger of destroying the sport as we know it.

Speedway in Britain needs a radical root and branch overhaul, and I don't only mean team racing but in the individual rider contests also. Can the BSPA three-year plan be sufficient? This cannot be achieved merely by the businessmen who own the majority of our clubs. It needs input from the Speedway Control Bureau, The Speedway Riders Association and, possibly, the Auto-Cycle Union. If such a reformation is not instigated within a very short time then maybe we won't be asking the Who Will be....World Champion.

I'm really concerned about the fact that speedway appears to be ever drifting near to the edge of the cliff.

I feel it will be a close run thing, Garry. Right down to the proverbial wire!
